You do not have to literally sit in the front-row. You can choose anywhere you want to sit. When I talk about living your life in the front-row, I am not just talking about a physical chair, although I certainly choose to sit there whenever I can. I am talking about a philosophy. I am talking about a choice. I am talking about the way you show up for your life.
Wherever you choose to sit, you can make it a front-row seat. I was reminded of this recently during a conversation with a friend of mine. I am working on my new book, Front Row Success: How to Live and Lead from the Best Seat in the House, and she looked at me and said, “I usually don’t like to sit in the front-row, that’s a you thing.” Now, she wasn’t dismissing my brand or my message. She was simply telling me that sitting in the literal front-row is not where she feels most comfortable.
And I loved that she said it. Because it made me realize this is an important reminder for all of us. My front-row philosophy is not about where I think you should sit. It is about where you decide you want to be fully present, fully engaged, and fully alive. Your front-row is where you get to say, “It doesn’t get any better than this.” And that can look different for each of us. For some of you, sitting in the front-row of your life might mean going to the gym and getting into optimal physical shape. For some of you, it might mean finally speaking up in a meeting and using your assertive voice.
For some of you, it might mean taking that dream vacation you have been putting on the back burner for years.
For some of you, it might mean having the hard conversation, applying for the job, starting the business, writing the book, setting the boundary, or saying yes to an opportunity that scares you a little.
And yes, for some of you, it might literally mean sitting in the front-row at an event because you know you deserve a seat at the table. But here’s the important part. There is no judgment. You get to decide. So, here is my question for you on this Front-Row Friday: How do you define front-row for you? Is it a relationship? Is it your health? Is it a career goal?
Is it a mental state of mind? Is it finally giving yourself permission to go for what you want? When you hear me talk about living life in the front row, I would love to know what that means to you. Because your front-row may look different than mine. Can you do me a favor, let me know what is YOUR ideal front-row seat? I’d love to hear from you.
Have a great Front-Row Friday,

Your Head Usher,
Marilyn
